Erfolgsstory Hotel von Tyczka Energy

Efficient energy concept at the hotel

To reduce the hotel's energy costs, two liquid gas-fired combined heat and power plants supply the hotel with electricity and the spa area with heat.

Heat generation in the hotel offers great savings potential

Hotelier Marc Traubel, owner of the Hotel Hubertus Mountain Refugio Allgäu in Balderschwang, Oberallgäu, opted for an efficient energy concept when building his new spa area in 2019. Instead of a large and rather unprofitable pellet heating system, which supplied the spa area and the hotel, two liquid gas-powered combined heat and power units, each with 50 kW of electrical heating, now work much more efficiently and economically.

Avalanche-proof installation

The liquid gas is stored in an underground 30 t tank. Secured with a concrete slab and buoyancy protection, it was installed avalanche-proof in the slope behind the hotel. And equipped with a drive-over dome shaft.

Pellet heating only for peak load

Two pellet boilers only cover the peak load when the heat demand is particularly high. As liquid gas is not piped, the concept increases the security of supply for the business.

Keeping an eye on C02 emissions

As an accommodation provider in a vacation region that thrives on unspoilt nature, it is very important to keep the hotel's emissions as low as possible. This is why the decision was made to use liquid gas. Compared to the previous pellet heating system, the energy balance has been significantly improved.
